Ultrasonic level sensors measure level without contact by timing a sound pulse reflected from the surface of a liquid or bulk solid. They are economical and straightforward to install, which makes them common in water and wastewater, storage tanks and open channels. Vapour, foam and heavy dust reduce their accuracy.
