RTD sensors measure temperature from the change in electrical resistance of a pure metal element, almost always platinum. The Pt100 and Pt1000 are the industry standard and offer better accuracy, repeatability and long-term stability than thermocouples over moderate ranges, which suits process control in chemical, food and pharmaceutical plants.
