KROHNE, a world-leading manufacturer and supplier of solutions in industrial process instrumentation, announces it has supplied KROHNE OPTIMASS 6400 Coriolis mass flowmeters for measuring purified water used in Covid-19 vaccine production processes.

The meters will also be used as a master meter – the standard by which all other production process flow meters will be verified against.

Known for its stability and lack of drift over time, the KROHNE OPTIMASS 6400 Coriolis mass flowmeter will be used to measure purified water on the company’s Covid-19 vaccine line. As a master meter prover, the flow meters will also be used for calibrating flow measurement instruments on other individual production skids containing tanks, pumps, and other equipment. This provides the pharmaceutical company with a reliable reference point and a necessary cross-check to ensure other equipment is performing up to its standards. In addition to measuring dynamic flow measurements, the OPTIMASS 6400 mass meters can also be used to double-check the accuracy of weighing scale measurements.

Offering the highest possible accuracy, the meters meet all international metering standards, including OIML R117, R137, MI-005, MI-002; API, and AGA and the factory calibration rigs are ISO certified by UKAS or other weights and measures authorities for a full audit trail.

Made of stainless steel with the necessary sanitary fittings required for pharmaceutical applications, the OPTIMASS 6400 Coriolis mass flowmeter’s twin bent tube meter design is ideal for advanced process uses, including a wide variety of pharmaceutical batching, dosing, filling, and solvent extraction applications. It enables continuous and uninterrupted high accuracy measurement of mass flow (to ±0.05% of measured value) and volume density, and temperature. The OPTIMASS 6400 meter’s EGM feature also maintains operation over a wide range of gas fractions and complex flow conditions.

OPTIMASS 6400 Coriolis can be integrated with the software used for continuous real-time analysis in computerized systems that compare meter output signals with required standards. Device commissioning, verification, diagnostics, and monitoring is available using a secure wireless Bluetooth® connection. The OPTIMASS 6400 is the only Coriolis mass flowmeter on the market allowing secure wireless access via Bluetooth® or remotely via HART® in safety-related applications. Other communications options include 3 x 4…20 mA, Modbus, FF, Profibus-PA/DP, and PROFINET.
