Managing Director of pro-k, Ralf Olsen, presented the membership certificate to Dr. Jochen Hauck, COO of SIMONA AG, at the K plastics trade fair in Düsseldorf.
“Zero Granulate Loss” forms part of a global initiative by the plastics industry.
Under the headings “Zero Pellet Loss” and “Operation Clean Sweep”, industry associations around the globe are working together to prevent the loss of plastic granulate along the entire supply chain. As a member company, SIMONA also participates in projects aimed at combating marine litter.
In order to qualify for membership, SIMONA had to ensure that the necessary technical and organisational prerequisites were met at its plants to prevent the spillage of granulate. The package of measures also includes staff training and regular assessments of efficiency levels.
SIMONA is supporting the initiative as part of its “Environment – Energy – Quality” programme. As a manufacturer of thermoplastic products, SIMONA is aware of its significant responsibilities with regard to the environment and society as a whole. SIMONA develops sustainable solutions for the energy utility sector as well as for safetycritical and eco-specific applications. Products supplied by SIMONA help to conserve resources by substituting heavy materials, facilitating the effective treatment of water and reducing CO2 emissions.
Sustainability is also considered a strategic goal when it comes to production processes. Production-integrated environmental protection is of considerable importance when planning new manufacturing processes and applying specific fabrication methods. SIMONA’s environmental, quality and energy management is certified in accordance with international standards. SIMONA is an active member of VinylPlus, an organisation that focuses on improving sustainability within the PVC supply chain.
