Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions Reveals New Bredel Heavy Duty Hose Pump for Demanding Mining Applications at bauma 2025

5 Mar 2025  |
Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions (WMFTS) will unveil its new Bredel Heavy Duty pump specifically for the mining and construction sectors at bauma 2025 (April 7 – 13).

Bredel hose pumps, part of WMFTS, has engineered the new Heavy Duty pump with increased safety features and improved durability which can be seen for the first time at stand C2.339 in Munich (Messe München), Germany.

The Heavy Duty pump is an ideal solution for handling difficult solids in the mining and construction industries, such as transferring abrasive high-solid content slurries, thick sludge and corrosive fluids with flow rates to 108,000 L/h and pressures up to 16 bar. Visitors to the stand can learn from WMFTS mining experts about the Heavy Duty pump’s frame that enables safer pump transportation using a forklift truck, and bearings that provide an extended lifetime when pumping high-solid content slurries. The Heavy Duty pump’s safety features also include a window guard that offers extra protection, a flange bracket that reduces the risk of lubricant leakage and lowers maintenance, as well as a C4H paint coating that brings higher resistance for harsh environments.

This is an opportunity for bauma attendees to learn how WMFTS peristaltic pumps and hoses specifically engineered for the most demanding mining and construction applications can contribute to a more sustainable and efficient process.

Bredel hose pumps and Qdos® chemical metering pumps, from WMFTS, are low maintenance with benefits such as minimal impact on the local environment, reduced water consumption, and lower energy use. These long-lasting peristaltic pumps excel at applications such as transferring thickener underflow and accurately dosing reagents, leading to a more efficient mining process.

Wilfried Staijen, Global Business Development Manager – Mining at WMFTS, said: “Bredel, Qdos and Watson-Marlow pumps are empowering mining companies worldwide to achieve their production and sustainability goals. Whether handling polymers, flocculants, reagents, abrasive lime slurries, or corrosive chemicals, pumps and hoses from Watson-Marlow can accurately control the flow with minimal downtime for maintenance and very low-cost parts inventory. Importantly, pumps such as Bredel or Qdos can be relied upon in remote locations without the need for freshwater sources or ancillary equipment.

“Unlike conventional pumps, our peristaltic pumps use a hose or tube as the primary wear part, which minimises maintenance and downtime due to internal wear. This design ensures reliable performance, which is crucial in harsh mining environments where equipment durability is essential. Bredel hose pumps have a robust construction so they can handle high solids content and strong acids without damage or contamination, which makes them ideal solutions for thickener underflow, tailings transfer, concentrate filter feed, and chemical metering.”

Products on show at bauma 2025 include:

  • Bredel Heavy Duty pump, to be unveiled at bauma 2025, has advanced safety and reliability features specifically for the mining and construction sectors.
  • Bredel hose pumps have no valves or seals to leak, clog or replace and provide flow rates to 108,000 L/h (475 GPM) and pressures up to 16 bar (232 psi). They can pump viscous and abrasive slurries, pastes, grit-filled sludge, corrosive acids and other challenging materials, with up to 80% solids in suspension.
  • Qdos chemical metering and dosing pumps, with the ReNu cartridge pumphead at the core of its operation, meters reagents in thousands of mining installations worldwide. Qdos pumps provide accurate, repeatable and contained reagent dosing, pH control and slurry transfer between flotation and milling stages. Qdos H-FLO is designed specifically for higher flow rates up to 600 L/hr and pressure capability up to 7 bar. Like the rest of the Qdos range, Qdos H-FLO cuts costs through higher precision chemical metering, with an accuracy of ±1% and repeatability of ±0.5% in dosing.
  • Bredel NR Transfer hose for exceptionally long hose life.
  • Bredel EPDM hose for excellent chemical resistance, especially to ketones, alcohols and concentrated acids.
  • Watson-Marlow cased pumps and ATEX certified close-coupled pumps have no seals, valves, diaphragms or rotors to clog or wear, and provide a simple, low-maintenance pumping solution in challenging applications.
  • Lined with polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE), Aflex hoses offer excellent chemical resistance. Corroflon is a fluoroplastic hose with a flexible convoluted PTFE liner for chemical and process fluid transfer. Corroline+ is a kink resistant, flexible hose with reinforcing to withstand the most severe conditions.
