Less than Six Months and Industrial Valve Summit will be Back

Less than Six Months and Industrial Valve Summit will be Back
13 Dec 2021  |
The fourth edition of the event will be held at the traditional Bergamo exhibition venue on 25th and 26th May 2022. The great expectations of the sector towards the summit, postponed by one year due to the epidemiological emergency, is testified by the number of companies that have already sent their request to participate as exhibitors.

Requests have exceeded the number of exhibition spaces of the year 2019 when the 250 stands were sold out. The organizers Confindustria Bergamo and Ente Fiera Promoberg, in view of the next edition of the fair, are setting up an additional pavilion and these new spaces are almost fully booked. The balance of the IVS 2022 participants proves the rapid growth of the event: the third edition of the fair attracted almost 11,000 visitors from 60 countries to Bergamo, numbers 36% higher than the 8,000 visitors of the 2017 edition and tripled compared to the 3,500 visitors in 2015, the debut year of this trade fair. Also in 2022, the Fiera di Bergamo will open its doors to welcome thousands of visitors arriving from all over the world. IVS combines this globally important fair with a scientific dimension that translates into training experiences, conferences, and opportunities to discuss the prospects of the industry. Not only during the days of the fair, where current issues are discussed and strategic developments in the industry are examined but also to get ready for the summit.

The third edition of the Valve Industry Think Tank, the event that brings together Valve industry players to discuss energy transition and supply chain enhancement issues, took place last November. The event was promoted by Valve Campus, the association that gathers manufacturers of industrial valves and components for the oil and gas sector and the energy industry, and that has always been the scientific partner of the Industrial Valve Summit. The speakers who took the floor were Francesco Apuzzo, Valve Campus secretary; Luca Pandolfi, Project Manager of IVS Industrial Valve Summit; Giovanni del Serrone, Director of Technip Energies; Michel Ronchini, Senior Manager Onshore/Offshore Piping and Valves – Technip Energies; Omar Bedani, Manager of Commercial Operations Fired Heaters, Global hydrogen, and Technology – Wood; Giovanna Villari, Sustainable Technologies Commercial Manager – Saipem Spa; Alessio Cogliati, Projects & Services Sales Manager – Clean Energy & Hydrogen – The Linde Group; Paolo Mutti, Project Leader Hydrogen Innovation Report, Energy & Strategy – Polytechnic of Milan; Giacomo Lovino, Purchasing Group Leader & Category Manager – Maire Tecnimont.

The meeting showed the importance of enhancing the ESG sustainability factors to stimulate the growth of the industrial valves sector, involved in a season of great change. Another major element of the discussion was the strategic importance of hydrogen, which will have a key role in energy transition applied to the industrial valve supply chain. The sector is sitting on the fence throughout this challenge of production, transportation, and the use of the resource. Both are topics that are part of the scientific conference program that will take place during IVS 2022, and for which Valve Campus, together with the summit organizers, has issued a Call for Papers. Scientific discussion during the days of the fair will cover Carbon Capture Use and Storage technologies and the biofuel chapter, but also valve actuation and control technologies within smart technologies and fugitive emissions abatement applied to sealing technologies.

Developments and advances in safe valve design, castings and forgings, manufacturing processes, coatings, and corrosion protection technologies will also be examined. Special emphasis will be placed on innovation, combined with emerging technologies and future scenarios. New technologies will create new opportunities and businesses, as well as new ways to handle existing challenges: the entire Valve Industry and its stakeholders are ready for this stimulating task. The conferences will focus on international standards, supply specifications, lean documentation management, and remote inspection technologies.
