Pioneering Innovations

Sage Metering has been at the forefront of thermal mass flow measurement technology, pioneering several key innovations since its inception in 2002. Let’s explore these groundbreaking advancements:

Hybrid-Digital Thermal Mass Flow Meters

In 2003, Sage Metering introduced the first hybrid-digital thermal mass flow meter, departing from the traditional Wheatstone bridge technology. This breakthrough significantly improved resolution and reproducibility, eliminating drift associated with conventional thermal technology.

In-Situ Calibration Verification Check

In 2007, Sage Metering introduced the first In-Situ Calibration Verification Check, a unique feature permitting users to verify their flow meter’s accuracy on-site without removing it from the process.

To use the verification, the user easily generates a reproducible zero-flow quickly, enabling them to verify calibration even while the meter is in the field. The 3-step check, conducted at a no-flow condition, takes only three minutes. It confirms that the sensor is clean, the meter hasn’t drifted, and the original NIST-traceable calibration remains intact. This breakthrough eliminates the need to take the meter out of service and return it to the factory for annual calibration.

Environmental Applications and Carbon Credits

Sage Metering was the first thermal flow meter manufacturer to provide easy and effective on-site calibration verification. This innovation enabled the use of thermal mass meters in environmental applications, such as reporting greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) per EPA regulations and quantifying carbon credits according to U.S. carbon credit protocols.

High-Performance NIST-Traceable Flow Meters

Sage Metering is equipped with one of the most advanced thermal mass flowmeter calibration facilities in the United States. All calibration standards at Sage are NIST-traceable (National Institute of Standards and Technology).

Our Flagship Thermal Mass Flow Meters

The Sage Paramount™ is our newest industrial thermal mass flow meter with state-of-the-art components. The Sage Paramount thermal mass flow meter incorporates state-of-the-art microprocessor technology, offering advanced features and options such as CL I Div 1, enhanced communication selections, complimentary SageCom software, and improved responsiveness to temperature fluctuations compared to the Sage Prime meter. While not all applications may necessitate Paramount’s advanced capabilities, it stands as the optimal choice for future scalability.
