Caramba has been using GF Piping Systems‘ ball valves at their facility in Bremen for over 20 years. When two new batching boilers with a capacity of 10 cubic meters and 15 tons were installed in 2022, the decision was made to also overhaul the piping system. As Caramba already uses valves by GF Piping Systems to transport raw materials from storage tanks to the production area, the company decided to implement the Ball Valve 546 Pro and the Smart Actuator.
The Ball Valve 546 Pro is a 2-way valve designed for use in simple water applications all the way to complex processes in the chemical, microelectronics or food and beverage industry. It features a lockable lever for added safety, a Data-Matrix-Code for full traceability, as well as modular design that enables long-term sustainability. A reinforced security break point also allows the coupling piece to be quickly replaced without interrupting production. The electric Smart Actuator is compatible the Ball Valve 546 and adds features such as NFC and WiFi connectivity, colored LED feedback showing its current status as well as an App that allows it to be controlled remotely and visualizes diagnostic information.
In total, Caramba installed 35 ball valves and actuators which introduce a number of benefits. First and foremost, the solution increases process and work safety thanks to the visual position feedback and automated actuation. With Process Automation, the installation can be controlled, monitored, and analyzed. High quality, long-lasting materials and efficient project support also contributed to Caramba’s decision to install products by GF Piping Systems. As a result, products by the Swiss flow solutions provider are now installed throughout the plant, from the raw material storage facility to the filling station.
