Supagraf® FE – New Valve Stem Packing Reduces Costs Associated with Fugitive Emissions Control

28 Oct 2021  |
Certification to all known industry standards for environmental protection usually comes at a high price but Supagraf FE graphite packing, launched by sealing specialists James Walker this month, breaks this myth by offering the highest levels of emissions control performance at a highly competitive cost.

In third party testing to API 622 3rd edition, the product achieved average emissions levels of just 8ppmV with no adjustment required to the packing gland during testing.

Supagraf FE has been certified to the following environmental standards;
– ISO 15848-1:2015 Class BH CO1
– API 622 3rd Edition
– TA Luft / VDI 2440 Rev. 07.2002
– Shell specification SPE 77/312 Class AH Rev. 02.2019
– API 607 Edition 7 Fire Safety/ISO 10497:2010
– Conforms to Shell material specification MESC SPE 85/204

Supagraf FE also features the latest innovation of lubrication technology for ultra-low friction capabilities to mitigate the effects of stem judder and friction by preventing graphite pickup or high spot friction on the valve stem, especially applications with high rates of thermal cycling and dynamic stem movements. This ultra-low friction behaviour aids further cost reductions for valve manufacturers by reducing the requirements made on valve actuation and allowing system designers to save space and cost by using smaller actuators.

This new product complements the existing range of Supagraf fugitive emissions control packings from James Walker which have long been regarded as best in class options, offering end users and OEMs the high emissions performance they need but at a significantly advantageous cost.
