Reliability in the Bottling Process – with UWT’s Vibrating Level Switch as a Demand-Level Detector

In a large food processing plant in Central America, substantial quantities of cooked tomato sauce are filled into cans every day. A process buffer tank ensures smooth operation by portioning the sauce and feeding it to the filling line. To maintain the required fill level in the tank and ensure sufficient pressure for accurate dosing, a reliable level monitoring system is used.

Precise Minimum Level Detection and Visual Status Indication for Stable Filling Processes

The Vibranivo® VN 7120 vibrating level switch from UWT functions as a demand-level detector in this application. The sensor is installed laterally in the middle section of the buffer tank. As soon as the defined minimum fill level is undershot, the system automatically triggers a refill. This ensures a stable and precisely controllable process.

The version used is designed for process temperatures of up to 150 °C (212 °F), making it ideally suited for the conditions created by the cooked tomato sauce. The vibration fork is equipped with a 64 mm extension to ensure that the sensor head is positioned far enough away from the process connection. This prevents material bridging between the tank wall and the fork.

A key feature is the bright LED status indicator, which is clearly visible from the outside. This indicator can be flexibly configured and, for this specific application, it displays a covered status using a green light

Thanks to the Tri-Clamp hygiene adapter with flush-welded sleeve, the sensor is also ideally suited for CIP/SIP cleaning processes. The hygienic design features a 316L stainless steel housing (protection class IP69 / Type 6P), meeting the highest standards of production hygiene.
