Equflow Sensors Disposable and Single Use Flowmeter Solutions for the Biopharmaceutical Industry

21 Jul 2023  |
Equflow is committed to find the perfect fit for your flow process. We develop and produce disposable and single use flowmeters and all required components.

Our sensor technology stands out in its modularity and in the accuracy, reliability and repeatability of the measurements. Affordability and product-customization are highly valued by our customers in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Turbine Flowmeters

Equflows’ turbine flowmeters can be used in applications where flow control or volume control is required. The turbine flowmeters offer two important advantages: High accuracy, and -repeatability when measuring flows of low-viscous liquids.

We have developed a mechanical construction enabling an almost frictionless turbine movement that barely causes any wear and tear.

Why Equflow?

  • Indesign opportunities
  • We design customized products to create a perfect fit for your application
  • We offer engineering support during your process of testing and validation
  • Our products comply to biopharmaceutical industry standards

Flowmeters for the Biopharmaceutical Industry

Twelve years ago, we were amongst the first suppliers to introduce disposable and single use flowmeters in the biotechnology- and pharmacy industry. Meanwhile, various industries have widely adopted our proven, reliable sensor technique in the single use arena.

In biopharmaceutical production processes, reliability, accuracy and safety are of the essence. We offer flow measurement solutions that meet the strict requirements set by the industry. To meet these requirements, Equflow’s products are produced in a certified clean room and comply with USP Class VI high quality standards.

Our disposable and single use flowmeters can be used for both flow control and volume control. Easy exchange of the wetted parts and onwards a quick recalibration prevent contamination and infection in the respective process. The disposable single use solutions reduce down-time in your process to the minimum.

Equfow’s disposable single use flowmeters are successfully applied in bioreactors, liquid chromatography, various filtration processes (TFF, UF) and other equipment in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Disposable and single use flowmeters

  • Reduce down-times during your production process
  • Designed for a fast and easy exchange of the wetted parts
  • Only exchange the wetted parts as the electronics can be re-used
  • Calibration data per flow tube available
  • Available in PVDF material (gamma radiation resistant) or PFA material (chemical resistant)

Equflow’s Single Use Technology

A turbine tube (the wetted part of the flowmeter) for single use is positioned between two hoses that transports the liquid from or to a component in, for example, a bioreactor or filtration process. We use PFA (chemical resistant) or PVDF (can be sterilized with gamma radiation) as the material of construction for the wetted parts. The turbine tubes are available in different sizes that cover flow ranges from 20 mL/min up to 200 L/min.

Each turbine tube is supplied with a unique bar code, comprising of the K-factor (amount of pulses/Liter) of the tube, amongst other data such as lot number, serial number, etc. The respective K-factors are determined for each tube by using a calibrated testing procedure. By using Equflow’s barcode scanner for automatic calibration, the operator only has to scan the bar code with the bar code when exchanging the turbine tube. This automatically processes the K factor of the tube for the recalibration of the system, so that a reliable measurement is guaranteed.

Upon request we also supply a complete set of validation documents and calibration certificates.
