GemmeCotti specializes in providing ATEX pumps designed for safe and reliable operation in potentially explosive atmospheres. These pumps adhere to the stringent safety requirements of ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, ensuring the protection of workers and facilities in hazardous environments.

What does ATEX stand for?

ATEX stands for “ATmosphères EXplosives,” French for “Explosive Atmospheres.” The term encompasses European Union directives that regulate equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. These directives aim to prevent explosions and protect workers from associated risks.

What is the ATEX standard for the EU?

The ATEX standard for the EU is a set of directives that aim to protect workers from explosion risks in hazardous environments. All our pumps comply with the technical and safety requirements of ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU.

The Directive states that the manufacturers of equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres shall draw up a written declaration of conformity of these products.

ATEX Zones

ATEX zones classify hazardous areas based on the likelihood and duration of explosive atmospheres:

  • Zone 1: An area where an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture of air and flammable substances (gas, vapor, or mist) is likely to occur occasionally in normal operation.
  • Zone 2: An area where an explosive atmosphere is not likely to occur in normal operation, and if it does, it will persist for a short period.

GemmeCotti’s ATEX pump solutions

GemmeCotti offers a comprehensive range of ATEX pumps, including metallic (AISI 316) and plastic (PP/PVDF) options, designed for various applications and ATEX zones.

ATEX pumps made of stainless steel AISI 316 suitable for ATEX ZONE 1 and ZONE 2

GemmeCotti offers three ATEX pumps made of stainless steel AISI 316, suitable for use in ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas. These pumps are available in various configurations to meet specific application requirements, including mag drive centrifugal pumps (EM-C), mag drive turbine pumps (EM-T) and mag drive rotary vane pumps (EM-P).

ATEX pumps made of plastic materials PP/PVDF suitable for ATEX ZONE 2

GemmeCotti manufactures five ATEX pumps made of PP/PVDF, making them suitable for use in ATEX Zone 2 II3G hazardous areas. GemmeCotti supplies mag drive centrifugal pumps (EM-C), self-priming mag drive centrifugal pumps (EM-C SP), mag drive turbine pumps (EM-T), mag drive rotary vane pumps (EM-P), self-priming turbine pumps (EM-T SP) and mechanical seal pumps (EM-CO).

Applications

GemmeCotti’s ATEX pumps are suitable for transferring a wide range of fluids, including:

  • Acids and bases
  • Corrosive, toxic, and dangerous liquids
  • Hydrocarbons, pyrophoric, and other flammable
  • Heat transfer oils
  • Refrigerants and cryogenics
